09/25/08 Apple Imagery Part 2

Apple Imagery Part 2. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report. Yesterday we talked with Alan Taylor who has been a part of the apple industry for quite some time doing work with Pink Lady America but he has been taking notice of what the image of the apple really means, and that is a positive message. TAYLOR: Things behind the apple, the things that it stands for, the kind of icon it has become in society certainly would be related to good news and I think certainly right now I think that's what a lot of people are looking for because the situation is anything but good. There's a lot of negativity our there and it's good to have something positive that you can look at. Taylor has seen his share of bad news recently. TAYLOR: I've been through a lot of things in the last 2 years as far as my health goes and some family things health wise as well and you can get down and say gee things are all against me but that's not the way to handle things like that. You've got to stand up and say there are some positives out here. You're still alive and kicking and you might as well make a good time out of it and find something positive along the way. Taylor has taken the image of the apple and married it with the slogan, "We Believe In You." TAYLOR: I'm going to take this and contact as many people as I can and see if I can use it for some good for the country, for the region and for myself as well. I don't see anything negative about that. In fact I think that's a positive thing. There's a lot of people right now that are looking for ways to improve situations and this is my contribution. It gives a new twist to the proverb&an apple a day. That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
