Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. On today's program we are going to discuss wine's role in our modern lifestyles.
Everything I read - everywhere I go - people are talking about wine in a way that they didn't 20 years or even 10 years ago. I have been contemplating just what wine brings to our lifestyle. I think the most important aspect of our increasing awareness and our welcoming of wine into our lives is that we now know that wine is not some mystery and anyone can enjoy it - they don't have to be "taught" how to enjoy it. And wine is not a beverage that can only be savored on special occasions. If we have learned nothing else we have finally figured out that wine is as much a part of everyday life as anything else. It is an incredible gift of nature and we have grown to appreciate and value wine for its contribution to our health and well being, to our conviviality and to our solitude. We have come to realize that wine from Riedel crystal at a dinner party can be every bit as good as wine from a tumbler at barbecue or just sitting on the porch watching the sun set. Because wine is so much more approachable and less pretentious than ever I like to think we are more willing to try new things. Because we ask "what would go well with this wine" many of us have begun trying new recipes and new foods. We are appreciating being around the table again laughing and spending time with our friends and family. Wine is coming back to where it began a part of everyday life a true part of our lifestyle.
