Well, the barn door has been thrown wide open recently and the green activists were standing right behind it! A recent study shows that the synthetic version of an all natural hormone, the production boosting hormone RBST is actually allowing dairy farmers to leave a smaller environmental footprint by increasing milk production with fewer cows. Fewer cows mean a reduction in natural resource usage; such as water, land and fuel. As Dale Bauman, author of the study states, "Sustainability is important in agricultural production, with an emphasis placed upon meeting human food requirements while mitigating environmental impact." And since reportedly not even biochemists can identify a difference between milk from RBST supplemented cows and "RBST free" milk where are the so-called health and animal welfare risks so often touted by these green activists? It appears that environmental activists are going to have to regroup and admit defeat on this one. Perhaps someone should tell them there's no use crying over spilled milk.
