02/29/08 My Husband's New Favorite Wine

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and as many of you know, my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time because I just do not waste the calories drinking wine that I do not like. However, today I am going to tell you about my husband's favorite wine. Not his new favorite wine, but the wine that he drinks when I am not at home, the wine that he buys for himself when he is exercising his independence from me and my snobbery. My husband is a friendly guy who is not very fussy and he doesn't really see why I am willing to pay more than $40 for a bottle of wine. He also loves most things Australian  hence his favorite wine is Shiraz. Specifically Wyndham Estate Bin 555 Shiraz Now I admit that I seek this wine out only for my husband. Last night after a long time of not having tasted the wine, I had a glass and it was pretty good. It was definitely Australian rich forward fruit a bit of pepper with a noticeable oak influence. I admitted that it did taste like a wine that I would have guessed to be a bit more expensive. The point is that my husband claims it is consistent and that he can rely on it to be as he remembers it every time, and that memory is of a good wine.
