Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and today is food and wine pairing day. Every year we do a program about one of my favorite convenience foods, grocery store rotisserie roasted chickens. Well I have been very busy again lately and I picked one up after a long time. I forgot how good they were! So today, we'll talk about selecting a wine for your roasted chicken.
The convenience of the grocery store roasted chicken has not escaped me and I have to admit that if you get them fresh they are quite good. Now my grocery store has several different flavors of roasted chicken. One that I really like is the lemon pepper and it goes great with Australian Semillon. There is also a Rosemary Chicken that is very good with red wine, like a Washington Merlot. If you enjoy the one with the smoky style of barbecue on it then grab a Zinfandel. If you like the sweeter barbecue kind; then get a Dry Rose. Every once in awhile my store has a Szechwan style chicken and it's very good with a dry Gewurztraminer. And if you just get the plain chicken don't worry there are some great white burgundies that will suit it just fine. Now if you really want to stretch the convenience factor get one of those salad kits also and serve the plain roasted chicken with Caesar Salad and a Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio. Because you are opting for convenience you'll have time to sit down and relax. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to Wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
