Pesticide Training. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
It is that time of year again. Just before things really start shifting into high gear in the fields when a number of training session are held. Tim Waters with Franklin County Extensions says the first meeting is the Annual Basin Producers Pesticide Recertification Day.
WATERS: The aim of the event is to offer WSDA pesticide recertification credits for pesticide applicators who already have their current Washington State Department of Agriculture pesticide applicators license. Its non crop specific titles and it's just aimed at people coming in to get educated on some current topics and getting their required recertification credits.
Two sessions will be held. One in the Tri-Cities next Tuesday at Trac and the second will be Wednesday at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake. Waters urges people to preregister now. There are a number of interesting topics that will be covered.
WATERS: Specifically the topics are pesticide drift, sprayer calibration maintenance and technology, chemigation, pesticides and the environment and separating hazards and risks, pesticide related liability and beneficial insects of the Pacific Northwest.
To preregister, Waters says to contact him for the Pasco meeting at the Franklin County Extension office and then for the Moses Lake meeting to contact the extension office in Ephrata. Tomorrow Waters talks about the upcoming pesticide safety training.
