12/24/07 Escape at Christmas

There is a reason we sing "Dashing through the snow on a one horse open sleigh" Hey even back in the 1800's the Christmas seasons was stressful, yes our ancestors also had obnoxious relatives and kids on candy highs. Their solution was one I have resorted to many a Christmas's past. A romp through the snow on a fine horse. But even if don't have access to a one horse sleigh a wilderness escape could be just the ticket to calm frazzled nerves this day before Christmas. The National Wildlife Federation has joined with Naturefind to help you locate private and public parks in virtually any community, all you need is a zip code to plug in and you will have a list of wonderful places where your family can do their own dashing through the snow, on skies, sleds, or slow the pace a bit with snow angels, bird watching or an animal tracking stroll. Remember, an out door escape isn't anything new and it might be the ticket to making your Christmas less commercial and harried.
