11/22/07 Toasts

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and today we are going to explore some of my recommendations for Thanksgiving Day Toasts. Toasting is a tradition at most every holiday meal and I for one am a fan of many toasts at the Thanksgiving table. Recently a friend asked for some suggestions of toasts that would be simple and heartfelt. She, like me, needs to plan her toast ahead of time so that she will be sure to keep it short. IF I am the hostess I have one that I use often because I just plan like it. It is "we are grateful to have you at our table and may you come here often". As is the tradition in many homes and in the spirit of thanks I like to ask that each guest and family member tell us what they are most grateful for. Another toast I think works well at this occasion if you are a sports family is something I am not quite sure who to attribute it to but it goes "Here is to the day and time when all of America sits down to eat at once cheers to half time." Or a rather silly toast "here's to the chef and to licking our fingers" okay so that was goofy but here is great quote "here's to good-byes that they never be spoken. Here's to friendship that it never be broken." Or how about "Here's to the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love." From all of us producing this program at Allen Media we wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
