10/29/07 Washington Cattlemen's Convention

Washington Ag October 29, 2007 The Washington Cattlemen's Association and Washington CattleWomen's Association will be holding their 82nd Annual Convention and Trade Show next week. It runs November 7th through the 10th at the Pasco Red Lion in Pasco. WCA executive vice president Jack Field says things begin on Wednesday the 7th with the Pfizer Cattlemen's College where attendees can earn their Beef Quality Assurance certificate. That will include a chute-side demonstration at Simplot Feeders in Pasco. Lieutenant Governor Brad Owen will be the keynote speaker at the Thursday Luncheon. Field: "We will also have a presentation from the Washington State Beef Commission with Jay Thieler the vice president for marketing with AB Foods and Pete Issakson, Associate Athletic Director at WSU talking about the recent partnership that the WSBC has participated in with the Gridiron Classics." That afternoon there will be a report on the Pilot Grazing Program and discussion of the state's Wolf Management Plan. Northwest Ag Information Network's own Jeff Keane will be a feature at the Friday luncheon which will be followed by a panel discussion on Age and Source Verification as well as USDA's Minimal Risk Rule II. WCA's annual meeting will Saturday morning November 10th from 10 to 1. I'm Bob Hoff.
