Claiming a speed index of 100 this quarter horse legends racing career was one of the most controversial in his time. I'm Jeff Keane and I'll be right back with more. As a two year old this quarter horse founded securely on thoroughbred blood raced his way into the history books. Here's Becky with more on the story.
Jeff, I must say anyone who has ever been remotely interested in Quarter horse racing defiantly knows his name. This solid red horse exploded into the racing scene as a two year old, in 1969, entering the starting gate an unheard of 26 times, a feet that would have crippled most other adolescents. But Easy Jet didn't just start he made it to the winners circle in twenty two of his races and as a result received three champion titles for his efforts. Many skeptics remarked he was ran too hard but despite their criticism he stayed sound to race again and again.
Sounds like this horse really liked to stay busy and racing just happened to be the perfect channel for that energy.
Yeah his energy was quick, and hot off the line, a trait that concerned his jockey's, as if they weren't careful his take off would find them unseated, not a good place to start a race. This unfavorable racing gift found Easy Jet a permanent fixture in the barrel racing industry where they know just how to put his natural quickness to use.
Looking for a speed rush with never ending energy? It seems Easy Jet horse might be right up your alley. Just be sure you pull your hat down tight before you engage the launch mode. I'm Jeff Keane
