09/25/07 One last crop insurance reminder

Farm and Ranch September 25, 2007 It's just days now to an important federal crop insurance sales closing date by which producers have to made their decisions on coverage and levels of coverage. Paul: "We like to remind producers that October 1st this year is the final date to establish their wheat insurance for the 2008 crop year." That's Dave Paul of the regional office of USDA's Risk Management Agency. RMA recently announced that the projected Base Price for Crop Revenue Coverage in Oregon, Washington and Idaho for 2008 wheat is $6.27. The Base Price for Income Protection is also $6.27. And for Revenue Assurance available in Idaho only it is $5.93 for winter wheat. Paul: "We also recently announced our established, or additional price election, for 2008 wheat APH yield-based insurance coverage at $4.90." October 1st is also the sales closing date in the Pacific Northwest for some other crops including Fall planted Barley with the Winter Coverage endorsement, mint with the Winter Coverage option, Forage crop insurance in Klamath and Malheur counties in Oregon and the Forage Alfalfa Seed Pilot in selected counties.
