Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. This week we are answering questions from the email. A listener writes to ask "You seem to share my love of Riesling and you have encouraged us listeners to try Riesling from all over the world. Why is it that my friends still turn their noses up when I say I love Riesling?"
It is true I am a Riesling lover as well. Just recently, I had a bottle of Spatlese Riesling from 1981 and it was delicious! You know I think if you just give it some time your friends will come around. Riesling is going to come back into fashion very soon as winemakers and wine writers are all reigniting their interest in Riesling. The planting of Riesling is once again on the rise and the varying styles of Riesling are showing up on restaurant menus in specialty retail shops and even in the grocery store. I mean look at Rose' a couple of years ago it was all considered to be the white Zinfandel blush wine. Now it is all the rage and everyone is getting on the band wagon and making Rose". Just like any wine there are some that are better than others and t in the case of Rose' or Riesling you simply cannot judge all based on your experience with one. As for your friends and their inability to appreciate Riesling - they probably are not keeping their minds open after all as the saying goes "your mind is like a parachute it only works when it's open". Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at Vine to Wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
