Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. As many of you know my new favorite wine is usually the one that is in my glass at the time I don't waste my time drinking wine I am not thoroughly enjoying.
Occasionally we purchase wines, they are put away quickly and get lost, so to speak. But I found them, and I am happy to report they were delicious. One of them made by Alexandria Nicole, was a white wine blend combining Rousanne with Viognier and Marsanne. The wine is called Shepherd's Mark and it is elegant and complex and my sister and I just love it! That day it was her new favorite wine too. The other lost and found wine was the 2001 Columbia Winery Milestone Merlot and it is showing just how nicely a Merlot can age. The tannins are dissipating and the earthy intensity of the wine is stepping into the forfront. The acids are just as nicely balanced as you could want. It is a nice wine with a dry cheese and a loaf of good bread or a great big pile of grilled mushrooms over a filet mignon. It does have a bit of a pedigree as all of the fruit is from the famed Red Willow Vineyards. It may even still be available by contacting the Columbia Winery in Woodinville. They have a fairly extensive Library of previous releases and with any luck at all you could enjoy a bottle too. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at Vine to Wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
