12/29/06 Happy New Year!

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and this coming weekend is the final celebration of the season  New Year's Eve. So today let talk toasting! Giving a toast can be daunting but not to worry  just follow a few important points. Number one - be brief! Number two - if you are being funny then also keep it brief. If you are being mushy or sentimental try not to cry before you get to the point. Now to the idea of how do you physically give the toast. Standing up is always nice and in a small group walking around and clinking each persons glass is nice. If you are toasting in a larger group you can all clink glasses in the center of the group or you can send the clink around by passing it from guest to the next and drinking when the clink arrives back at the individual giving the toast. If you are toasting to one person do not look at the glass look into their eyes while you give the toast then gently clink their glass. If you find yourself at a loss here are two of my favorite toasts. May you never forget what is worth remembering or remember what is best forgotten. Happy New Year!
