Cherry Institute Changes
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. If you’re familiar with, or have attended the Cherry Institute in the past, there are some changes coming you might want to hear.
Shannon Dininny, Managing Editor at Good Fruit Grower magazine, says the Washington State Fruit Commission, which owns Good Fruit Grower, will be working with others in the tree fruit industry and making some changes for the January annual meeting …
DINNINY … “We partner with WSTFA, Washington State Tree Fruit Association pretty regularly. And, in fact, the Fruit Commission is partnering with them on the Cherry Institute, which Northwest Cherries has always held every year, is now actually going to be a part of the Hort Show in December.”
This is an attempt, Dininny says to make the winter meetings a little more manageable …
DININNY … “We’re recognizing that the growers don’t have the capacity to go to all these meetings in the off-season, but also all of these companies that support and provide services, these vendors, they’re having a tough time right now as well, and it makes sense to have them at one show and to get growers at one shot.”
Cherry Institute will be held on Wednesday, December 9 at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick, during the WSTFA Annual Meeting and Northwest Hort Expo, December 7 thru 9.
Attendees will have the option to purchase a three-day registration for the WSFTA annual meeting, trade show and Cherry Institute together, OR purchase a registration just for Cherry Institute.
