It's Not Nuts-It's Peanuts and China-US Ag Trade Talks
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with your Agribusiness Update.**The National Peanut Board is launching a brand platform that aims to elevate peanuts beyond being a reliable staple: “It’s Not Nuts. It’s Peanuts.”
For the first time, according to www.morningagclips.com, U.S. farmers, manufacturers, and brands are rallying behind one cohesive identity, celebrating the crop as a distinct category of one.
With more protein* and the smallest carbon footprint** of any nut, peanuts are a shelf-stable and versatile source of nutrition.
**The USDA announced new steps aimed at expanding domestic fertilizer production and lowering input costs for American farmers.
Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins says the administration plans to accelerate permitting for fertilizer projects and revive a grant program to support domestic production.
The effort could increase U.S. fertilizer output by approximately 4.5 million tons annually, benefiting an estimated 400,000 producers across 290 million acres of farmland.
**China and the U.S agreed to reduce tariffs on agricultural trade as part of a broader agreement announced following meetings between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
China’s Ministry of Commerce said both countries agreed “in principle” to include agricultural products within a reciprocal tariff reduction framework while establishing goals to expand two-way ag trade.
Reuters says Chinese officials didn’t specify which products are included or provide many details.
