“285,000 metric tons, which is the third largest volume ever and actually the second largest value record, at a little over $800 million so broad-based growth, not only in the Western Hemisphere, with Mexico and Central America, but it was good to see Asia contribute. And actually, for the whole quarter, Japan's had a good quarter, including the month of March, with growth of almost 20%, and then you look at, you know, another solid month and quarter for Korea, as well.
As for beef exports,
“The beef variety meat side continues to be strong, a new record high, 130 $5 million exported on the beef side in March. You look at the countries contributing. This is the other thing. It's not just one or two countries on the beef variety meats. It's Japan, it's Mexico, it's Korea, it's places like Peru, Colombia, in the Philippines. The other thing that we look at, indicator-wise, is on the value. Even though we may not have as much volume as we would like, the value continues to grow over $450 per head for every animal slaughtered. So that's the highest in 12 months,” which he attributes to diversifying markets.
