Domestic Ag Possibilities

From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. There’s no doubt that the farm economy has been struggling a great deal in recent years.

But American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall says there are opportunities we should be taking advantage of for new markets right here in the United States …

DUVALL … “Farmers and ranchers are suffering through the toughest economy in a generation. A number of external factors are squeezing farmers to the breaking point – low commodity prices, global unrest, and high expenses. But there are ways to boost the farm economy, and the answers are here at home.”

And some, Duvall says could be pretty simple solutions for the agricultural economy in general …

DUVALL … “Year-round E15 would increase demand for corn by approximately 50-percent. The Buying American Cotton Act would incentivize domestic production and sales of U.S.-grown cotton. And the Grown in America Act would provide tax credits for businesses that purchase agricultural products from U.S. farmers.”

This could be, Duvall says just the beginning for a much brighter future for our producers, the economy and consumers …

DUVALL … “All of these would create real, sustainable demand for American products. We urge Congress to invest in America’s farmers by creating strong and dependable markets for their products.”

Again, that is Zippy Duvall, President of the American Farm Bureau Federation.
