Wildfire risk and drought concerns are growing across the Southeast. In Florida, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services says dry conditions are increasing wildfire danger. Commissioner Wilton Simpson and the Florida Forest Service are urging residents to be prepared and take precautions, noting that most wildfires are preventable. Officials are reminding Floridians to follow local burn bans, properly extinguish outdoor fires, and stay alert.

In Alabama, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has designated 30 counties as primary natural disaster areas due to ongoing drought. That designation allows farmers and producers to apply for emergency loans and other assistance to help recover losses.

Similar conditions are also being reported in Georgia, where the Georgia Forestry Commission has warned of elevated wildfire risk tied to dry weather and low humidity.

Across the region, officials are urging residents and agricultural producers to stay informed, take precautions, and act now to reduce risk as dry conditions persist.
