The U.S. Department of Agriculture is rolling out a national campaign to inform producers about updated “Product of USA” labeling rules now in effect.

According to the agency, the voluntary label applies only to meat, poultry, and egg products from animals that are born, raised, harvested, and processed in the United States. USDA says the change is intended to provide clearer information for consumers and support fair competition for domestic producers.

The update replaces a previous policy that allowed some imported products to carry the label after limited processing.

In a statement, Secretary Brooke Rollins said, “This new standard policy ensures producers who invest in a fully American supply chain can compete fairly.”

USDA says the outreach effort will include a range of communications, and producers can expect to see professional rodeo athletes and social media personalities involved in raising awareness.

According to the agency, the labeling update is part of a broader initiative announced in 2025 to strengthen the U.S. beef industry and improve supply chain transparency.
