Learn Forestry Skills at California Tree School
UC ANR and local partners are inviting forest landowners and community members to learn foundational forestry, fire and natural resources concepts at California Tree School, a one day hands on event offered in two Northern California locations this spring. Sessions will take place April 18 in Paradise in Butte County and May 2 in Eureka in Humboldt County.Participants age 15 and up can take four classes taught by UC academics and regional natural resource professionals. The program offers practical experience with forestry tools, lessons on promoting fire resilience and opportunities to build knowledge across a range of topics. No previous experience is required.
The $70 registration fee includes four classes, lunch, refreshments and access to a lunchtime Exhibitor Fair with regional natural resource organizations. Partial scholarships are available.
At the Butte County session, attendees will choose from 21 courses such as forest health, identifying conifers, reforestation basics, beneficial fire and nature journaling. Humboldt County participants will choose from classes on fire ecology, mushrooms, soil science and tribal forestry. To sign up, visit ucanr.edu.
