10/19/06 I-933 Tractorcade; WSU president search

Washington Ag October 19, 2006 A rally and tractorcade in support of Initiative 933 is being held in Spokane today. I-933 is the Washington Farm Bureaus Property Fairness Initiative and Stevens County Farm Bureau president Wes McCart says the rally begins at 11:30 am at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center on Havana. McCart: "We are going to have a few speakers, we are going to gather some people up and prepare for a tractorcade at 1:30." McCart says they will head to downtown Spokane and then back to the fairgrounds. McCart: "We are hoping to have about 100 vehicles. Tractors, all sorts of vehicles. Hopefully some semis." I-933 would require state and local governments to pay for the impact of regulations on property values or waive the regulations. McCart: "Farmers really support I-933. It was written by a farm organization and it was written for farmers, as well as the rest of the public." Members of the public have the opportunity to provide input on Washington State University's presidential search at two forums in Spokane this week. One is today at 4:30 pm at the Davenport Hotel and another is Friday at 2 pm at the Riverpoint Campus in the Academic Auditorium. Public input sessions have already been held in Pullman, the Tri-Cities and Vancouver. I'm Bob Hoff.
