Governor is Listening
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. Depending on who you’re listening to, you sometimes wonder if Washington Governor Bob Ferguson is listening to anyone but his Democratic colleagues. But Moses Lake Republican Tom Dent says he’s been able to connect with the governor on a number of issues …
DENT … “We do, we have great, we have civil discussions, absolutely. And, you know, I’ve said things to him that I know he didn’t want to talk about, but he does okay. And I know that he respects me and I respect him for who he is. I don’t agree with his policies, most of them I don’t agree with. But as a human being, you know, I really like how he treats his kid.”
And some of those conversations regarding agricultural matters, Dent says really help …
DENT … “You know, I’ve changed his mind on some things, from the CCA tax, I mean he went with me on that. He stood beside me all the way even though I don’t he totally understood where we were going. He was solidly there for me.”
And another big topic for agriculture …
DENT … “And on this overtime thing, I know that he’s struggling with it because he sees, I’ve had the opportunity to educate him on agriculture and what a challenge it is right now. Okay, so, if he’s there giving me some support, and obviously it has helped because I’ve been able to move the needle a little bit in the last month.”
But Dent says, bottom line …
DENT … “Well, he’s listening and that’s, you know, that’s everything, I mean, the way I see it.”
Again, that’s 13th District Representative Tom Dent.
