Last fall U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced a Grazing Action Plan, with three coordinated priorities: Improve the business of ranching, expand processing and market access and build demand. This week Secretary Rollins indicated that the plan is working, and announced new announced new further actions as part of the plan.

Rollins… “ Back in the fall with Secretary Burgum and others, we launched our plan to fortify the beef supply and rebuild the herd lower costs and ensure ranchers can have the same opportunities to thrive for generations to come. Since last fall, we have seen positive signs. Beef cull cow slaughter is declining faster than historic seasonal averages. The January cattle inventory reported an increase year over year in both heifers held as replacements and heifers expected to calve. These are encouraging early indicators that American ranchers are taking the first steps to retain cattle and to expand the domestic herd.”

Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum added that they plan to offer a single point of contact to dealing with these types of issues.

Burgum… “ So with this Grazing Action Plan, we're gonna cut red tape and we're gonna unlock federal lands. We're gonna help lower costs.”

The Grazing Action Plan is intended to boost the supply of American born, raised, and harvested beef
