USDA Opens New Round of Disaster Aid for Producers
In November, USDA launched the second stage of the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program, opening another round of support for farmers and ranchers recovering from recent natural disasters. Enrollment is now open through local Farm Service Agency offices.USDA is delivering more than $16 billion in SDRP funding. This latest assistance follows earlier efforts that included $9.3 billion through the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program for over 560,000 row crop farmers and $705 million through the Emergency Livestock Relief Program for more than 220,000 ranchers.
Stage Two is designed to fill gaps left after the first round. It covers eligible crop, tree, bush and vine losses that did not qualify under Stage One, including shallow, uncovered and quality losses. USDA says these additions will help reach operations that were not fully covered earlier.
Curious as to if this assistance could benefit you? Program details and fact sheets are available at fsa.usda.gov/sdrp. Producers can apply for both Stage One and Stage Two assistance through April 30, 2026.
