The Return on Investment of Precision Spraying Technology

A lot of agtech is expensive, but farming without technology can be pretty expensive as well. For that reason, it’s important to look at the return on investment of any new technology. Ecorobotix CEO Dominique Mégret says for their ultra-high precision spraying technology, the ROI equation has three levels to it.
Mégret… “ We think it tops of a return on investment. For the farmers it reduces input costs. So less pesticides. You know, 80 to 95% less cost. That's a lot. But also less labor costs. Because in the US we do much more hand weeding than in Europe. And third, it's about yield improvement.”
For these reasons, Mégret says once customers try this new approach to spraying, they don’t want to go back.
Mégret… “ There is no way back once you've tested high precision crop care; plant by plant, as we say. There is no reason to get back to broadcast and the way it used to be because it's actually win-win. You use less chemicals, less environmental impact, less problems with human health associated with it as well. So less is more.”
Ecorobotix started in Europe and has been rapidly expanding in vegetable crops in the U.S.
