Washington Ag September 29, 2006 In response to the Columbia Complex and Tripod Complex fires in Washington state, USDA's Farm Service Agency is making available the emergency use of Conservation Reserve Program land. Robert C. Nordstrom, FSA Acting State Executive Director, says livestock displaced by the fire will be allowed to graze on grass in CRP fields, which are normally off-limits to grazing, in Columbia ,Walla Walla, Okanogan and surrounding counties.
Livestock owners affected by the fire may use their CRP land for grazing without an assessed payment reduction to their annual rental rate. Also, CRP participants may allow grazing privileges for an eligible livestock producer without CRP land. For other requirements and restrictions contact you local FSA office.
