From disaster aid to job openings to pest control warnings—here’s what’s making ag news in Florida, Alabama, and Georgia.

In Florida, Ag Commissioner Wilton Simpson just rolled out FDACS.gov/BlockGrant. That’s your one-stop spot for updates, eligibility info, and applications for the new disaster block grant program helping producers hit by the 2023 and 2024 hurricanes. Florida’s the first state to team up with USDA on it, and there’s more than $600 million in federal funding on the table to help cover losses.

In Alabama, the Peanut Producers Association is hiring a Project Coordinator, Promotions and Marketing Manager. The job centers on marketing and promotion programs funded by the state’s peanut check-off. Applications, with a cover letter and resume, are due to Executive Director Libbie Johnson by August 29.

And in Georgia, ag officials are warning about unlicensed pest control operators going door-to-door. By law, they need a valid state license. Always ask for proof before work starts—violators could face fines up to $10,000.
