Commissioner Harper: Trade Deals a Win for Southeastern Ag
Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper is praising a wave of new trade deals from the Trump Administration, saying they’re a major win for the state’s farmers and for American agriculture more broadly. In a statement from his office, Harper highlighted recent agreements with the European Union and South Korea as especially impactful.“President Trump continues to deliver for Georgia farmers,” Harper said, “and his recent trade deals, particularly with the EU, are an undeniable victory for American agriculture and for farm families in Georgia and across the country.”
According to the Commissioner’s office, the EU agreement eliminates most tariffs on U.S. agricultural exports, protects key commodities like soybeans, and removes barriers for pork and dairy. It also includes significant European investments in the U.S. and new commitments on energy exports.
In the South Korea deal, duties on U.S. agricultural goods are coming down, while Korean investments in shipbuilding and ag infrastructure are on the rise.
Harper’s office noted that recent trade agreements with seven countries are helping expand global market access for products grown and raised right here in the Southeast.
