10/2/06 Canada and Kyoto

Environmentalists who shall remain nameless, have taken pot shots at Bush for passing on the Kyoto protocol. They have loved to flaunt our neighbor to the North, as the epistle of example given her environmental fortitude in pledging to be a part of the UN Treaty. Well they had better start back peddling their Hybrids. Canada just announced they are pulling out of their 1.5 million dollar pledge to the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), an integral part of the United Nations Climate Change Conference and a phase of the Kyoto Protocol. Canada had pledged the most of the 20 nations taking part in Kyoto, and their with drawl muddies future international global warming negotiations . Funny, the reason Canada cited for their abrupt withdrawal is the fact Kyoto lacks a provision for major polluters like China, now home to the worlds ten most polluted cities. Now that hardly seems fair that China with its exploding economy gets off scott free while other so called rich countries
