Washington Ag September 20, 2006 Cattle Producers of Washington is holding its annual meeting tomorrow, September 21st, at the Moses Lake Convention Center from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. That's located at 1475 Nelson Road NE in Moses Lake. CPOW president Lee Engelhardt says this year's slate of speakers will bring cutting edge information about the most prominent issues in the industry today and he encourages all cattle producers in the region to attend.
In the morning Bruno Schmidt, a National Animal Identification System expert will be making a presentation and there will also be a Washington State Department of Agriculture/NAIS round table.
In the afternoon there will be presentations from Dr. Doug Zalesky, co-chairman of R-CALF USA's International Trade Committee and from Jess Peterson, R-CALF's Director of Governmental Affairs.
Registration is 15-dollars for CPOW members and 25 for non-members with lunch included.
The Washington State Department of Agriculture has activated a toll-free number for the public to report diseased or dead domestic poultry, such as chickens, turkeys, domestic ducks and geese and other farm birds. It's part of the surveillance program for avian influenza and other disease. That number is 1-800-606-3056.
