California almond growers have voted to continue the Almond Board of California’s federal marketing order for another five years. The vote, held from December 4 to 20, 2024, saw 90.5% of participating growers—representing 93.3% of almond production volume—support the order’s renewal. Established in 1950, the marketing order enables growers and handlers to collaborate on addressing industry challenges and promoting almonds globally. To pass, the referendum required support from at least two-thirds of either participating growers or production volume. Eligibility to vote was limited to those who produced almonds between August 1, 2023, and July 31, 2024. The outcome reflects strong industry confidence in the Almond Board’s work, which includes marketing, research, environmental stewardship, and food safety. California almonds remain the state’s top crop by acreage and export value, and the U.S.’s leading specialty crop export. The Almond Board involves over 200 industry members across its Board of Directors, committees, and work groups, encouraging broad participation in shaping programs.
