From the Ag Information Network, this is today’s Fruit Grower Report. After a three-year hiatus, Jennifer Witherbee has returned as Executive Director at the Washington Apple Education Foundation.

Since her return, Witherbee says she’s been catching up

with some of her former students and it has been so rewarding …

WITHERBEE … “It is. I get a little bit teary-eyed when I get to have those conversations.”

But also, Witherbee says with the folks in the office …

WITHERBEE … “It’s been great to see how the WAEF staff is the same group that was here when I left, how they’ve continued to develop and just to take such ownership of a lot of the projects and activities that have been going on.”

And for you future students, Witherbee says deadline for next year’s scholarship applications is March 1st …

WITHERBEE … “So, to get into that path to make sure that you are able to complete an application or send out in an application pool, connect with us. We love to be able to have conversations with students before they apply.”

But, Witherbee says don’t let yourself get discouraged …

WITHERBEE … “Just because a student applies in their senior year and doesn’t get selected, doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t continue to apply each year that they’re in college. Because many times we’re able to pick up a student in one of those later years when we might not have had the funding in their senior year.”
