NFU Policy Priorities Pt 2

From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. About two months into the new Administration, the agricultural industry has a lot of questions.

National Farmers Union President Rob Larew says they recently set their 2025 policy priorities at their national convention in Oklahoma City, but adds, NFU has serious concerns about uncertainty from the White House …

LAREW … “The third special order is kind of paying attention to a lot of the news that's been coming since the president was sworn in.”

Less confusion and more clarity from lawmakers, Larew says would be great …

LAREW … “I think it's fair to say that across a lot of rural America and farm country right now, there's a lot of uncertainty. There have been funding freezes, there's been a lot of attention on county offices, and while we don't know what the outcome of that will be, we know that with tariffs being put on and sometimes reduced and sometimes added back on, that this constant kind of back and forth on a number of these policies stresses that we need our federal government to kind of show us a game plan and make sure that they are communicating to USDA.”

Beyond all of the expectations, Larew says they do have a plan, however …

LAREW … “We want to help the Ag committees, for example, in the House and the Senate, understand what USDA is doing. Right now, there's a limited amount of information, and that's adding to uncertainty, and with the farm economy the way it is right now, that's just adding to anxiety.”

Once again, that is Rob Larew President of the National Farmers Union.
