The USDA is investing over $116 million to boost domestic fertilizer production in nine states, aiming to increase competition, lower costs for farmers, and reduce food prices for consumers. Announced by Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, this funding supports innovative projects to strengthen the agricultural supply chain and enhance fertilizer availability across the U.S.

In Georgia, Reve Solutions Inc. will use a $1.3 million grant to expand its biosolid fertilizer composter by adding equipment and working capital at two production sites. The project is expected to produce over 30,000 tons of fertilizer annually and create five new jobs.

The funding comes from the Fertilizer Production Expansion Program (FPEP), part of the Commodity Credit Corporation. The program has awarded $517 million to 76 facilities nationwide to help independent businesses modernize equipment, adopt new technologies, and scale production. By increasing domestic fertilizer output, USDA hopes to reduce reliance on imports and stabilize costs.
