With many market traders anticipating a one-and-a-quarter percent interest rate cut by the end of the year. This could mean good news for not just the agriculture industry but the economy as a whole. Crossroads. Co-Op Regional Manager, Brian Irey discusses the potential outcomes of this interest rate cut and how it could affect other parts of the agriculture industry.

“And it looks like possibly a one-and-a-quarter percent cut by year's end, which is definitely good news for not just production agriculture, but business in general and the general population, as it really does feel like the economy's starting to stagnate some.

He says major events coming down the pipeline will offer more accurate predictions of the pricing and interest trends.

“It is not hard to build the case that maybe we aren't headed into a recession here. I think that will be at the forefront. Grains-wise, at month end, we get the final 23-24 quarterly stocks report, which is always a market mover, along with that is the small grain summary that information from the quarterly stocks report then gets incorporated into the October was the and October crop production reports, and you slowly start to get a clearer picture of where we're headed.”

Brian Irey with Crossroads Co-Op. Coming up tomorrow, he talks livestock markets.
