Alabama Farmer Dismisses John Deere Lawsuit
Remember those three little words, right to repair, that were all over the headlines not all that long ago? Not only did they stimulate discussion and evoke legislation, they also brought with them litigation. Make that litigation minus one. Progressive Farmer is reporting this week that one of the more than 17 farmers who filed antitrust lawsuits against John Deere has dropped his claim.
They report that cattle and hay farmer Trinity Dale out of Spruce Pine, Alabama, has filed a notice of voluntary dismissal. The group of lawsuits came against equipment giant Deere & Co alleging that the tractor manufacturer monopolized the repair-service market for their equipment. The company tried to get the lawsuits dismissed, but that attempt was denied late in 2023.
While this specific lawsuit may be seeing its end, multiple cases remain with much to be seen still here in 2024. There is a ton of speculation as you could imagine. We’ll keep you up-to-date on the latest right here on the Ag Information Network.
