Young Farmers, Bermudagrass, and Interest-Free Loans
We’re taking a trip across the southeast with your ag news today starting with some congratulations in the state of Alabama.Young farmers walked away victorious during contests at the recent Alabama Farmers Federation Farm & Land Conference. Among those, Whit and Amanda Lovelady from Talladega County were named Alabama’s Outstanding Young Family Farm and Will and Ali Gotcher from Colbert County were named winners of the Excellence in Agriculture award.
Keeping it to Farm Bureau news, Georgia Farm Bureau members who grow any variety of dry Bermudagrass hay have until Oct. 31 to enter the organization’s Quality Bermudagrass Hay Contest. And, in Florida, Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson announced that producers impacted by Hurricane Debby can now apply for low-interest and interest-free loans. These can be used by eligible agriculture and aquaculture producers to restore, repair, or replace essential physical property — including fences, equipment, greenhouses, and other buildings — or to remove vegetative debris.
