From the Ag Information Network, this is today’s Fruit Grower Report. Pear Bureau Northwest has named a new President/CEO to replace the retiring Kevin Moffitt.

CarrieAnn Arias comes to the Pear Bureau after several years serving as the Vice President of Marketing at Dole Food, and as VP of Marketing at Natureripe …

ARIAS … “Natureripe Farms is a total line of berries, but they are the largest grower of blueberries globally and I technically had like 450 bosses because they were a farmer-owned organization. And I just really found my stride. It’s absolutely my passion to work directly for the growers.”

That passion, Arias says was stirred during the interviews …

ARIAS … “Meeting the hiring committee, the growers, they have a variety of different jobs titles, but I definitely felt a connection and I knew that it was the right opportunity to be a part of that team.”

And that, Arias says feels good …

ARIAS … “And I think that that’s why the Pear Bureau was such a great fit for me, is really that connection to the farm and helping consumers kind of get through the clutter of what’s out there from a social media perspective and understand truly where your where your food comes from and the families that, their lives are dependent upon the prices in the grocery store.”

Tune in tomorrow and hear more from Arias about her early meetings with growers and what her priorities are in the early stages.
