Well we’re actually talking about California ag next, we’ve got an event of note going on.

We’re talking state of the industry and the industry is agriculture. The California State Board of Food and Agriculture will bring together rural appraisers, financial institutions and agricultural associations to hear updates on market trends and the farm economy on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. The meeting will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the California Department of Food and Agriculture. If making it to Sacramento isn’t on your agenda next week, you can also take part via Zoom: https://www.cdfa.ca.gov/egov/press_releases/Press_Release.asp?PRnum=24-079

“California’s farmers and ranchers are experiencing challenging market conditions,” said CDFA Secretary Karen Ross. “With downward trending prices and increased production costs, on-farm profitability is eroding. It’s important to hear farm perspectives to help inform policy and programs at the federal, state and local level.”

The California State Board of Food and Agriculture advises the governor and CDFA secretary on agricultural issues and consumer needs. The Board conducts forums that bring together local, state and federal government officials; agricultural representatives; and citizens to discuss current issues and concerns to California agriculture.
