As American as....Snack Food?
With your Southeast Regional Ag News, I’m Haylie Shipp. This is the Ag Information Network.I’m an aspiring foodie who lives in a place way too rural to actually be able to readily jump on food trends, so I watch from afar…a “food trendie,” if you will. Today, we're diving into the latest snacking trends revealed by Mondelēz International, the maker of Oreo and Ritz, highlighted in a recent Trendline report from FoodDive.com. (https://shorturl.at/Y9MLH)
They report a recent study found that six in 10 consumers prefer several small portions over a few large ones. Plus, a staggering 88% of people reported snacking daily. However, consumer preferences are evolving. Health and wellness have become significant factors influencing snack choices. Many are opting for foods that are lower in calories, preservatives, and sugar. High-protein, nutrient-rich snacks are also on the rise.
To adapt to these trends, major food companies are introducing smaller pack sizes, better-for-you ingredients, and new flavors to meet evolving consumer needs and maintain their strong presence in the multi-billion-dollar snack market.
So what are the latest trends in snacking? I love specifics! We'll dive into those tomorrow and, let's just say there's something fishy.
