Hurricane Recovery Funds Ready for Florida Producers
Florida farmers and ranchers battered by recent hurricanes are getting a major boost. Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson announced that the state’s agricultural producers can now apply for more than $600 million in disaster assistance tied to impacts from the 2023 and 2024 hurricane seasons.Through the Florida Block Grant Disaster Relief Program, eligible producers can seek funding for infrastructure damage, market loss, citrus loss, and timber damage. “Florida’s farmers, ranchers, and growers suffered billions of dollars in damages and losses during the 2023 and 2024 hurricane seasons, and this grant program offers them much-needed financial support,” Simpson said. He also thanked President Donald Trump and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins for helping secure the funding.
Florida was the first state to finalize an agreement with the USDA to launch the program. Applications are first come, first served and must be submitted by August 25, 2026, or until funds run out. Producers are encouraged to review eligibility details and gather required documents at FDACS.gov/BlockGrant before applying.
