From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. Farmers and ranchers take a lot of heat in the media these days for some of their environmental practices, but is that from bias or ignorance?Ben Tindall, Executive Director at Save Family Farming, says understanding what they really do is key …
TINDALL … “Farmers and ranchers depend on a sustainable and quality environment. These are not enemies of the environment. Their livelihood and their ability to grow good food is dependent on a good and healthy and vibrant environment.”
Today’s producers, Tindall says are the solution, not the problem …
TINDALL … “One farmer mentioned, you know, we’re not your grandpa’s farmers. These are not individuals who are farming the way we did 100 years ago. These are individuals who are engaging in technology, engaging in computers, be it drones, technology as far as pumping water and using water, honoring the needs and resources that we have.”
And, Tindall says they’re efficient …
TINDALL … “They are making a lot more food with a lot less pull from the ground or from the water than they ever have before and that’s because of the innovation, the creativity that these farmers and ranchers are exhibiting and it’s incredible.”
