Most of agriculture is extremely efficient and renewable. But one essential input that is finite and by definition not renewable, is phosphorus. One company, Phospholutions, claims they’ve developed the first proven technology to reduce phosphorus use by 50% while preserving grower yields. Director of agronomy Brian Reinicke talks about this product called Rhizosorb.

Reineke… “RhizoSorb addresses phosphate efficiency. There's a lot of studies out in the marketplace today that show that 10 to 30% of the phosphorous that we are using is actually efficient. RhizoSorb offers an opportunity to increase that to over 50% efficiency and using less material overall to the acre and in improved environmental standards.”

Reineke says this product fits seamlessly into farmers’ normal operations.

Reineke… “This is a dry fertilizer with an analysis of 8 39 0. RhizoSorb can be a replacement for traditional phosphate fertilizers, ma dap, triple super phosphate, those types of things. It's very easily blendable into current dry fertilizer programs that they're already using that include potash or zinc or micronutrients or anything like that. So it's an easy transition.”
