Farmers Using ChatGPT

Always on the cutting edge, early adopter farmers are embracing the latest in technology. Colorado farmer Marc Arnusch has taken a particular interest in AI-powered ChatGPT. He’s finding it useful in some real- world on-farm scenarios.
Arnusch.. “ I've used it to ask questions about business strategy, how to approach growing my farming operation, how I might approach a neighbor and a strategic business partner about taking over his operation, what that might look like, what things I should consider, what a contract would look like if my neighbor decided to retire from farming. What would a farm lease look like?”
Arnusch is most impressed with ChatGPT’s ability to recall past conversations and use that information to find a solution.
Arnusch… “It would build on previous conversations. In a search engine, you have to be very direct and you have to type in certain things and it's not gonna remember what you searched before. Or if it didn't refine your search well enough and you try to build upon it and you try to narrow it down, it would take a.Some of the things that we were chatting back and forth early in the conversation, maybe even previous days, and it would remember that and it would build upon it, and it would say things like, remember one of the priorities you have in this is making sure that not only are you growing your family operation, but those around you are growing as well. That was a new experience for me, for sure.”
Arnusch admits that while ChatGPT is not always 100% accurate, he does see its value on the farm.
