Yesterday we reported on irrigation company Lindsay Corporation’s new FieldNET NextGen Platform. Director of ag technology Tanner Oliphant, says FieldNET Advisor, part of that platform, allows growers to monitor irrigation patterns, soil moisture levels and other vital factors influencing irrigation and crop performance with unprecedented precision.

Oliphant… “(We) look at field characteristics, soil types, crop type emergent state, detecting things through satellite imagery where you necessarily don't have to go to the field to see, when did that crop come outta the ground. And really being able to give predictive analysis on when that grower should be irrigating and how much we really see that into, what I would say beyond, monitoring and controlling the center pivot remotely. But that's, FieldNET Advisor is taking that to where through that same platform, the grower can see, how much rainfall they received on that field what the grow stage should be, what the current sole moisture status in that field is, what the evapotranspiration rates. And taking all that scientific data on the back end, but then presenting that in a format that the data, the grower can interpret real quickly and make a decision on, okay, do I need to irrigate today or not?”

That’s Tanner Oliphant, director of ag technology at Lindsay Corporation.
