Grizzly Bear Update Pt 1
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. The subject of Grizzly Bears being reintroduced to the North Cascades is gaining traction again and a familiar voice is urging the people in that area to let their voices be heard … once again.
U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse says Grizzlies Bears are back on the table …
NEWHOUSE … “The National Park Service as well as the U.S. Wildlife Service, they are now, under Section 10-J of the ESA (Endangered Species Act), they are seeking public comment under a proposed rule.”
Newhouse says they apparently weren’t listening the first time …
NEWHOUSE … “For the safety of our communities, for the safety of our livestock industry, this is something that they have mad their voices heard loud and clear in years past that this is not an action that should be followed through with.”
Newhouse says it shouldn’t be necessary, but here it is …
NEWHOUSE … “One of the interesting facts that has been pointed out numerous times is if the grizzlies, and
I’ve got nothing against grizzles, but if the North Cascades was so attractive for bear populations they would be there already because they are just up north in British Columbia.”
