Farm Bureau and CLAAS of America recently signed a memorandum of understanding on right to repair. Emily Buckman, AFBF director of government affairs, says this brings the total to five MOUs with different ag equipment manufacturers.

Buckman… “It provides farmers and ranchers the opportunity to have access to documentation, diagnostic codes, opportunities to purchase parts and specialty tools directly from the manufacturer, as well as gain assistance from the manufacturer. It's also important to note that it's not only for the farmer or rancher, but also independent repair shops have access to these tools as well, which gives our members more options when it comes to getting your equipment repaired.”

Buckman adds right to repair is an important issue for farmers and ranchers, and a priority for AFBF.

Buckman… “A piece of equipment is a major investment, farmers should have the freedom to choose where equipment is repaired to help control costs. So, having access to these tools allows a farmer and rancher the ability to repair their own equipment. And now that we have three quarters of market share in the U.S. covered by these five MOUs, we're excited for the momentum that we've gained and we look forward to continuing to explore other opportunities with additional manufacturers.”

Other equipment manufacturers on board include AGCO, Kubota, CNH, and John Deere. Learn more at Fb.org.
