Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and on today's program we are going to be answering a question from my book group last night. What wine goes good with Pesto?
A girlfriend in my book group asked me what wine I like best with Pesto. I did the annoying thing and answered the question with questions. What kind of pesto? What is the pesto on? And do you like red or white wine? Hey these are all important things to know & It was a classic Linguine and chicken with basil garlic pesto and she likes white but most of her guests were red wine drinkers. So, of course, for the white, I recommend good quality Italian Pinot Grigio like the one made by Livio Felluga and a simple Chianti Classico Riserva for the red selection. No not from the same culinary regions - but they were my recommendations. She thought it was too predictable and wanted something different. I gave her a blank stare. I was not prepared for any alternatives my imagination could already taste it. So I just smiled and said who cares you will be having fun with your friends just drink what you like. You know sometimes we just make too much of these things, and although I believe some wines go better with certain foods than others I am not always sure anyone else at my table really cares. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at Vine to Wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
