06/19/06 Pet Peeve

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and on today's program we are answering questions or rather a comment from the email. This person works in a wine tasting room and she has a pet peeve to share with us. Recently a listener wrote to tell me a story about something that really bothers her and she keeps waiting for me to address it but I never do. She writes "Linda, I work in a tasting room of a midsize winery. Sometimes the tasting room can be a little bit crowded and while I appreciate you encouraging people to taste and spit you have never really addressed spitting etiquette. I see so many people, especially men, who think that they are exhibiting their superior powers by leaning in and spitting across in front of others at the spittoon. Often they don't quite make it, how unusual, and the folks in front of them really do not appreciate it. Could you please let your listeners know that if they are going to spit move around close to the container. Maybe even try saying excuse me to the person closest to the receptacle and asking could you move over or trade places with them as you'll be spitting today? Why is that so difficult? Can you help?"
